State Poet Laureate 

In 1919, Colorado became the first state to formally establish a state poet laureate position, which is currently held by Crisosto Apache, who was appointed to a four-year term in 2026. 

City and County Poets Laureate 


Aurora

In 2022, Ahja Fox became the poet laureate of Aurora, Colorado. She will serve a two-year term.

Loveland 

In 2025, Beth Lechleitner was named the poet laureate of Loveland. 

Lafayette 

In 2026, Michele Battiste was named the poet laureate of Lafayette. 

Pikes Peak

In 2021, Ashley Cornelius was appointed the poet laureate of Pikes Peak. 

San Miguel County 

In 2025, Paulo Munguia was appointed poet laureate of San Miguel County.
