Brian Teare

Brian Teare is the author of seven books, including Poem Bitten by a Man (Nightboat Books, 2023) and The Room Where I Was Born (University of Wisconsin Press, 2003), winner of the Brittingham Prize in Poetry and the Thom Gunn Award for Gay Poetry. Teare is the recipient of fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, the American Antiquarian Society, the National Endowment for the Arts, MacDowell, and other organizations. In 2008, he founded Albion Books, and, in June 2023, served as Guest Editor of Poem-a-Day. Teare lives in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Monacan land.
