H. J. Massingham
H. J. Massingham was born on March 25, 1888, in London. He was educated at Westminster School and Queen’s College, Oxford University, before working as a journalist for Morning Leader, Athenaeum, and the Nation.
Massingham is the editor of Poems About Birds from the Middle Ages to the Present Day (T. Fisher Unwin, 1922) and the author of The Tree of Life (Chapman & Hall, 1943) and Downland Man (G. H. Doran, 1926), among more than seventy books on rural life, natural history, archaeology, and anthropology.
Massingham died on August 22, 1952.
